Institutional, commercial and scientific discourses on Competitive Intelligence (CI), in France were studied. Over the last 20 years, these speeches aimed to help companies, local regions and countries to grow and to protect their assets. However, Competitive Intelligence discourse has not succeeded in meeting these requirements in particular in Smes. A more robust approach is suggested with a new discourse, a new theory, a new methodology and new cretiria. This new approach includes more human factors and Information Overload.

Scientific Papers :Validation of information: The intellectual building of the « Staging of Information ». We can’t validate information, we can just believe in references. The validating process misleads us. We suggest to Stage or to Direct the information scene with a list of criteria to select the information subject to acceptance. We decrease some analysis after the information and we increase the questioning prior to information.

Foreknowledge and Intelligence: From Sun Tzu. Sun Tzu speaks about ‘Foreknowledge’. However, before the information, Sun Tzu receives his order from his leader. We suggest a temporary an actionable strategic questioning or an agile questioning before information. Various models, concepts and methods coming from Information Behaviour are presented so that they can be used in Competitive Intelligence. Major human factors are presented to be taken into account in Intellligence discourses and practices.

Competitive Intelligence discourses use and abuse of the understatements of the concept of Totality

Intelligence discourses use and abuse of words and expressions like ‘all, everything, complete’.

Example: My boss wants it all. Let’s try an avoid words like ‘all’ and we will improve interpersonal conversations between the boss and an analyst.

    • Information Treating: Watching and information management explained to small and medium sized companies.
Handbook to analyse information, when we don’t have much time and not much money either, in Small and Medium Sized Companies.
  11. Other Research Activities
    • Is information a good thing? Should we always accept it?
    • When the answer is yes, we should target and filter it, that is, we should accept it.
    • When the answer is no, we should keep a distance from it, that is, we should refuse it.
    • How to create and run a human network?
Computing networks bring different types of information than real human networks. We present one way to create and to run a watching network.
    • Observations on the lack of method in web searching
We need some real practical skills and some methods to search the web
    • Starting with collecting, watching information has not proved to be succesful. A new process to implement
      CI in Smes is presented.
    • The failure of Intelligence for business in small companies.
CI discourse is a global failure. We need to change it. What are the main fragile factors that explain this Failure? What are the major robust factors that can help and build a new approach?
    • What shall we do when a leader wants to know everything? He does not know what he wants, clearly. He is already preparing himself to blame it on you is the task is not carried on completely? Some methods and tools are presented for such a situation.
    • From the strategic intention of a leader to a search plan: Observations and method
A simple method, based on robust assumptions, to go from the strategic intention, towards a seeking plan
