Program Objectives

The PGDE is a two-semester (1 year) program whose objectives are to provide students with the knowledge, skills, techniques, and competencies in teacher education and their application to teaching in schools, training institutions, and other organizations. It prepares teachers, education instructors, managers, and planners to serve educational establishments, training institutions, and other organizations and provides quality education that adds value to society. On successful completion of the program the graduate will be able to:

  • Apply knowledge and values in the teaching-learning perspectives that are essential to the teaching profession.
  • Demonstrate expertise in applying, synthesizing, and analyzing the teacher’s work.
  • Show competence in critical thinking and reflective practice.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with, and ability to, adapt to everyday life of the school and class which require skills in interpersonal relations and communication.

Successful completion of the program will enable graduates to work as teachers in schools; they will also assume positions of responsibility as training instructors in a variety of public, private, and non-profit organizations.
